Cedar Blitz Rolls Back to Town

CEDAR SPRINGS — The Cedar Blitz Bike Race is rolling back into town Saturday, July 11, bringing hundreds of riders and spectators back to downtown Cedar Springs. The race measures anywhere from eighteen to 128 miles of course.

What began as a simple conversation has grown into one of the city’s signature summer events. Organizers say the idea first took shape when Dave Ringler of Cedar Springs Brewing Company mentioned he’d love to see a bike race come to town. Working alongside Rogue Racing Team and family members with event‑planning experience, the concept quickly became reality.

The first Cedar Blitz was held May 30, 2020, drawing about 200 racers. Since then, the event has grown to welcome roughly 500 riders each year, plus spectators, volunteers and supporters lining Main Street.

“With Main Street closed for the event, a professional start and finish line, music and Cedar Springs Brewing Company serving as the hub of activity, the race creates an atmosphere that's exciting for both rides and the community,” organizer Taylor Mrozinski said. “Whether someone is racing for a podium finish or just cheering on friends and family, we want the day to feel like a celebration.”

Supporting the community has been a central focus from the start. The Cedar Springs Band Boosters volunteer during the event and host a raffle fundraiser, and proceeds from the ultra‑distance race benefit World Bicycle Relief. Since 2021, organizers say the event has helped raise and donate more than $12,600 to cycling and community organizations.

Ringler said the race continues to be a point of pride for the city.

“We’re glad to work with the Rogue Racing Team once again to bring this great event to our community,” Ringler said. “We expect nearly 1,000 visitors to Cedar Springs and look forward to showcasing our great downtown shops and businesses while supporting the Cedar Springs Music Boosters.”

Following the races, Cedar Springs Brewing Company will host its third annual Summer Cornhole Tournament.

Organizers encourage residents to come downtown to race, volunteer or simply take in the atmosphere as the Cedar Blitz returns for another summer celebration.
