FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grand Rapids, MI – Construction Simplified is proud to announce the completion of Cedar Springs' new City Hall and Department of Public Works, marking the successful transformation of a historic 1929 municipal building into a modern, functional civic facility.
A public open house will be held Thursday, May 14, from 4:00–6:00 PM, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:00 PM and the first City Council meeting in the new facility at 7:00 PM, celebrating this milestone for the City of Cedar Springs and the community it serves.
The approximately 9,000-square-foot project represents a thoughtful approach to adaptive reuse, preserving the building's historic character while delivering the modern infrastructure and functionality required for Cedar Springs' municipal operations. Construction Simplified served as Construction Manager, leading the Design-Build team alongside architect Post Associates to direct preconstruction planning, trade coordination,
and schedule management from concept through completion. Jeff Wustman,
Project Executive and Partner at Construction Simplified, reflected on the significance of the project. "Working on a historic civic building in the heart of Cedar Springs has been an honor for our team. This project required careful coordination to balance preservation with progress, maintaining the building's historic integrity while
creating a space that serves the community's needs for decades to come. We're proud to have partnered with City leadership and our design and trade partners to deliver a facility that reflects Cedar Springs' values and vision."
The project involved close collaboration with City leadership, design partner Post Associates, and trade partners to navigate the complexities of adaptive reuse. The team updated the building's core systems and modernized MEP infrastructure while preserving the historic character that defines the structure.
Darla Falcon, City Manager for the City of Cedar Springs, shared her enthusiasm for the project's completion. “I’m incredibly grateful to play a role in this exciting new chapter for Cedar Springs. This city hall renovation represents more than a building – it reflects the pride, growth, and future of our community. Choosing Construction Simplified as the construction manager was a great decision. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to quality helped make this renovation a true success for the community!”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks the official opening of the new City Hall and the completion of a project designed to serve Cedar Springs residents for years to come. Construction Simplified looks forward to celebrating this achievement alongside the City of Cedar Springs and the community.
