For the past 21 weeks, a local coalition has been holding regular protests in Cedar Springs, calling attention to what members describe as a consolidation of power by economic and political elites.
SOLON TOWNSHIP — The air inside Frost Creek Church was warm and stuffy Wednesday night, and so was the mood as the ongoing discussion surrounding data centers continued. Nearly 400 residents packed the sanctuary June 24 for a public hearing on Draft Five of Solon Township’s proposed data center zoning ordinance. SOLON TWP. — The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred June 23 in Solon Township. The incident, which at time of publication, is believed to have been an accidental discharge causing injury. Deputies were called to a Grand Rapids-area hospital after receiving a report of a gunshot wound sustained earlier that day. The incident took place in the 3400 block of 18 Mile Road. The shooting itself is believed to have happened earlier that afternoon.
