CEDAR SPRINGS - Residents in Cedar Springs may want to set a few clocks and charge their phones before turning in this Saturday night.
According to a Consumers Energy representative, abound 2,700 residents near 17 Mile Road NE are scheduled to be without electricity starting at about 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. The lights are expected to come back on around 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
The temporary outage is part of planned equipment upgrades in the area. Consumers Energy says it’s teaming up with ITC Michigan to make improvements designed to strengthen the local electric system and help keep service running more reliably down the road.
Customers who will be affected should have already received a postcard in the mail with details about the outage. Consumers is also encouraging residents to sign up for outage alerts at ConsumersEnergy.com/alerts. Those alerts provide real-time updates in case anything changes with the schedule.
If weather or other issues force crews to postpone the work, the backup date for the outage will be Saturday, March 21.
In the meantime, folks are encouraged to plan ahead for the overnight outage and take a few simple steps, like charging devices and preparing flashlights, to help make the night go smoothly.
