Pine Street Water Main Break Causes Temporary Disruption

A water main break on Pine Street is expected to temporarily interrupt service Friday for a small number of water customers while city crews make repairs.
The City of Cedar Springs issued a notice just before 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, reporting a water main break on Pine Street in front of Creative Technologies Academy.
According to the city, water users on Pine Street from Creative Technologies Academy to the White Pine Trail will be temporarily impacted while repairs are underway. The affected section is isolated from the larger system.
City officials said there is no boil water advisory in effect at this time.
The break occurred on a 4-inch water main that serves a handful of houses in that area. Pine Street also has a 12-inch water main that was unaffected.
Because the affected portion of the system is isolated, customers outside the impacted stretch should not see a disruption to their water service. Some users in the immediate area may notice discolored water.
Crews were dispatched Friday morning, and once repair work begins, water users in the impacted area will not have access to water until the break is fixed.
City staff are working to notify homes and businesses affected by the interruption.
Drivers may also see traffic delays or interruptions near the repair area while crews are working. It is advisable to avoid Pine Street if possible.
Residents are encouraged to watch the City of Cedar Springs website and Facebook page for updates.
