DETROIT, MI - The Red Hawks made their presence known at Ford Field in Detroit during the 2026 MHSAA Wrestling Championships this past Saturday, bringing home two individual state titles and four All State honors in a thrilling weekend featuring 896 wrestlers and 1,568 matches.

Out of eight Cedar Springs qualifiers, four earned spots on the podium. Senior Luke Egan, wrestling at 144 pounds, and junior Quinten Cassiday, at 138 pounds, were crowned state champions. Senior Tyler Parmeter, 157 pounds, and junior Deegan Pike, 165 pounds, each finished sixth.

Egan Caps Career With Perfection

Luke Egan, who we reported on back in January, finished his senior season a perfect 46-0, closing out his high school career with a 178-17 record. A four time All State athlete, four time conference champion, three time district champion and two time regional champion, Egan had been knocking on the door of this state title his entire career. Having finished as state runner up in 2025, Egan kicked the door down this season, claiming the 2026 state title.

A four time team captain, Egan’s leadership matched his success on the mat. As Luke heads off to Grand Valley State University following graduation, he'll leave a legacy in the locker room that was built on hard work and determination.

Cassiday Claims First Title

For Junior, Quinten Cassiday, a perfect record was fought for and found this season. He completed his season with a flawless 56-0 while sweeping conference, district, regional and state titles. This was his second appearance in the state finals, and with one year remaining, he will have the opportunity to make a historic run at a second championship next year. The Bugle is looking forward to following Cassiday's final push for "Perfection 2.0" in the '26/27 season.

Red Hawks Show Up In Force

Senior Tyler Parmeter added to the team’s success Saturday with a sixth place finish at 157 pounds, ending his season 18-4 and his career 168-27. A four time All State athlete, three time conference champion and two time district champion, Parmeter fought back from a significant injury to compete in his final season. His dedication to the sport was constantly on display and his season record is proof.

Junior Deegan Pike also earned a sixth place medal at 165 pounds, finishing the year 44-16. After placing third at conference, second at district and runner up at regionals, Pike reached the state podium for the first time in his second appearance at the finals, making his presence known as he steps forward into his senior year.

Four additional Red Hawks qualified for the state tournament and gained valuable experience. Freshman Dawson Pike finished 42-16, placing third at conference and regionals, and earned a state match victory. Junior Peyton Farrell went 38-16 with runner up honors at conference and advanced to the state tournament for the second time. Freshman Jackson Farrell compiled a 42-14 record, won a district title and reached the state meet in his first high school season. Junior Alex Harroun, who entered the tournament as a wild card, narrowly missed the podium despite recording a pin at Ford Field.

For The Hawks, the 2026 state finals will be remembered for two champions, four medalists and a group effort that showcased the grit and determination they put in all season long.
