Single Vehicle Crash Kills 91 Year Old

TYRONE TOWNSHIP — A 91 year old man died Sunday afternoon following a single vehicle crash approximately nine miles west of Cedar Springs.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office responded at 12:40 p.m. on May 3, 2026 to the intersection of Tyrone Avenue NW and 18 Mile Road NW for a report of a serious crash.

Investigators determined the driver, a 91 year old Tyrone Township man, was traveling northbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a transmission tower. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities said reckless driving and alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors at this time.
