Solon Township Crash Sends Motorcyclist to Hospital

SOLON TOWNSHIP — A motorcycle rider was seriously injured in a collision with a car at the intersection of Algoma Avenue and 19 Mile Road in Solon Township.

The crash involved a motorcycle traveling south on Algoma Avenue and a car that was believed to be crossing Algoma on 19 Mile Road heading west. The Kent County Sheriff's Office said the motorcycle and car collided in the intersection.

The rider of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Grand Rapids. The rider is reported to be in serious condition. Authorities say the motorcyclist is believed to be a young rider.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash. Deputies were mapping the accident scene using a drone as part of the investigation.
